Two-Night Stay
— Heritage, Cliffs & Coastal Wildlife

For those seeking a longer island experience, a two-night stay allows time to explore heritage, wildlife, and the Atlantic landscapes at a relaxed pace. To reach Inishturk Island, start in the iconic Westport Town Centre and drive to Roonagh Pier or take the shuttle to Roonagh Pier for the ferry from the back entrance of SuperValu. The bus departs 45 minutes before each sailing and should be reserved at least 12 hours in advance by calling (087)2234012.

Arrive on the morning ferry and settle into your cottage. Spend the afternoon exploring Portdoon Harbor with its natural blue lagoon and coastline, watching for seals and seabirds. In the evening, enjoy dinner at the Community Club, and on select weekends from June to August the club hosts live music, and every night a few drinks with the friendly locals in the pub and a lively game pool to end the day— check the events page for the entertainment schedule. Night-time offers the opportunity for a self-guided moon & star walk, taking advantage of Inishturk’s Dark Skies to spot constellations and listen for corncrakes and nocturnal wildlife.

Adults (18+) can join the Activator Poles Walking Experience at 11:30 AM along the Mountain Common Loop. Afterward, stop at the Harbor Tea Rooms for refreshments before enjoying an afternoon sea angling trip (book with Skipper Jack Heanue @ (086)2029670), learning about traditional island fishing and spotting seals, guillemots, and diving gannets. Pause for ice-cream or snacks at the Inishturk Shop (Open: Monday–Saturday 13:00–15:00; Sunday and Bank Holidays 12:00–13:00). Evening music at the Community Club is scheduled on select weekends.

Take a final morning walk along the cliffs toward Buachaill Mór and Buachaill Beag, or catch the sunrise at Tranuan Beach, before boarding the 5:15 PM* ferry back to the mainland.

*Summer and Winter timetables are seasonal and weather dependent, so always check with Inishturk Passenger Ferries before your trip!
